Our latest "Employee Spotlight" features a Q&A with Erin Sellers, Senior Manager of Intelligence & Research at InMarket.

At InMarket, Erin’s responsible for leading InMarket’s Content, including our website, email, insights and white papers, case studies, social media and event presentations. Erin joined the InMarket team in December 2020 and is currently based in Denver, Colorado.

What brought you to InMarket?

Erin Sellers: I joined InMarket in late 2020 — I was initially intrigued by InMarket’s pandemic research on how consumers were shopping during unprecedented circumstances. Leveraging InMarket’s data to tell detailed stories and help provide marketers with strategic recommendations was an exciting opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

What were you doing prior to joining the InMarket team?

ES: I started my career at Forrester Research in Cambridge, MA, working on the Digital Experience team. My research focused on mobile messaging, digital experience innovation, chatbots and more.

Why did you choose to pursue a career in this field?

ES: I fell into marketing on a whim… When I was in high school, my older cousin returned home from college and told me about her marketing and advertising courses. When it came time to apply for college, I decided marketing sounded pretty cool and stuck with it. Flash forward to now, I’m so glad to have ended up in this industry!

What's your favorite part about being on the InMarket team?

ES: Since Day 1 of being on the InMarket team, everyone has always been so welcoming, kind, and supportive. No matter what you’re working on, people are always willing to help, whether by providing an extra set of eyes to review or just brainstorming ways to make something better. When we spend so much of our time working together, being able to work with great people is so important.

What’s your favorite memory from working at InMarket?

ES: Every company retreat is a highlight. Since we’re all remote, getting the chance to get together with my team and collaborate in person, learn from one another, and socialize is always great. Our Q1 2022 retreat in San Diego was one of my favorites—it was my first time to California, and our team outing to the San Diego Natural History Museum was so much fun!

What's something surprising that not many people know about you?

ES: I studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland, and was able to travel to 6 other countries during the semester. It was incredible!

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

ES: During the summer, I spend most of my weekends traveling around Colorado finding new places to hike and camp with friends. So far, my favorite camping spots are along Steamboat Lake in Colorado, and Horseneck Beach in Massachusetts. This year, I hope to hike some 14ers and go camping in Yellowstone National Park.

Do you have a favorite book or book series?

ES: My favorite books are the Harry Potter series — I’ve re-read them 8 times each!

What's your favorite app and why?

ES: The New York Times Games app. I start every day by completing the Wordle, Connections, and the Daily Mini Crossword. My family has a Wordle group chat where we share our scores every day… It’s extremely competitive! My 2024 goal: get the Wordle in 1.
